Mechanism of action:
sucralfate forms a complex with protein-rich exudate found on the surface of ulcers. It binds to albumin and fibrinogen preventing blood clot lysis by stomach acid (hydrochloric acid). Sucralfate increases the levels of fibroblast and epidermal growth factors, leading to an increase in prostaglandins at the gastrointestinal tract lining, which promote the healing of gastrointestinal ulcers.

it is excreted unchanged in the urine.

(1) Rashes
(2) dyspnea
(3) difficulty in swallowing
(4) swelling of the face, throat, tongue, or lips
- It is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breast feeding.
- Contraindicated in diabetes mellitus.
It is stored in air tight container and at room temperature.
