Ondansetron Oral Solution

Ondansetron is used or indicated for the treatment/ prevention of the nausea and vomiting associated with emetogenic cancer chemotherapy also includes cisplatin

Mechanism of action:

It is serotonin or 5-HT3 receptor antagonist there by its mechanism is to block the serotonin receptors present in the chemo trigger zone and thus reduces the communication of the vomiting centre in the brain to the body or so, treats Nausea and vomiting.

Pharmacokinetics:

Absorption- It rapidly absorbed from GIT by oral route
Protein Binding- It is 73% bound to proteins
Metabolism- It is metabolized in the liver by hydroxylation and glucuronidation conjugation
Excretion- It is excreted via urine and some extent by faeces
